Cobalt Elite film emulations

In the past, our Kodak, Silver and Fuji film packs were renowned for capturing the unique mood of film emulsions. However, we have now taken our emulation to the next level with our high-end emulation pack. This isn’t just a mood anymore – it’s a scientific reproduction of your favourite film emulsions, brought to life on digital. Our team has spent months meticulously reducing every manageable variable in the acquisition process to ensure that we are able to offer a true emulation of these legendary film packs on digital as you can see here. We are proud to be the first in the market to offer this level of accuracy and authenticity in our digital emulations. With our high-end emulation pack, you can now experience the look and feel of your favourite film emulsions, without the hassle of traditional film processing and you can also mix digital and analogue shooting while keeping the same colour output.

For all available film emulations, we have captured both accurate colourimetry and contrast curve, which provides a higher initial contrast compared to the original raw file, as we aim to emulate the lower dynamic range of film. Expect almost final results with just the selection of your chosen profile if you want to enjoy accurate emulation.
Alternatively, make adjustments to the raw file while keeping in mind that you are using a Cobalt profile designed to maintain colour consistency even after intense post-production adjustments.

Our latest update offers both linear and filtered versions, catering to photographers with different editing preferences and needs.

For those seeking advanced editing capabilities, the linear versions provide a seamless experience in a professional editing room, allowing for precise adjustments and customization.

On the other hand, if you desire to replicate the distinctive look and feel of a film camera with a colour filter attached to the lens, the filtered versions are perfect for you. These versions accurately emulate the results obtained from such a setup, giving your photographs an authentic and nostalgic touch.

Fuji Neopan Acros II 100

Fuji Neopan Acros II was a black-and-white film produced by Fujifilm and was known for its fine grain, excellent sharpness, and wide tonal range. The film was popular among photographers who appreciated its ability to capture intricate details and produce images with a classic, timeless look.

One of the key aspects of this film was the film’s tonal range. Neopan Acros II had the capability to render subtle variations in tones from pure black to bright white, allowing photographers to create images with a wide range of contrasts. This tonal flexibility made the film suitable for a variety of lighting conditions and subjects, contributing to its versatility.

It’s worth noting that Neopan Acros II, being a black-and-white film, allowed photographers to focus on composition, lighting, and the interplay of shapes and textures without the distraction of colour. This simplicity often led to powerful and emotionally evocative photographs.

Unfortunately, Fujifilm announced the discontinuation of Neopan Acros II in 2018, which was met with disappointment from many film enthusiasts and photographers who valued its unique characteristics. If you’re interested in shooting with this film, you might need to look for existing stock from retailers or online marketplaces.

Ilford Delta

Ilford Delta is a renowned series of black-and-white films produced by Ilford Photo. The Delta series is known for its fine grain, sharpness, and tonal range, making it a popular choice among photographers seeking high-quality results in black-and-white photography.
There are several variants within the Ilford Delta range, each with its own unique characteristics:

Ilford Delta 100:  is often praised for its smooth and gradual tonal transitions, which contribute to a lower contrast compared to some other black-and-white films. This characteristic makes it well-suited for scenes with a wide range of tones, as it can capture subtle details in both highlights and shadows.

Ilford Delta 400: is a popular black-and-white film known for its versatility and balanced characteristics. It falls in the mid-range in terms of contrast, offering a good compromise between capturing a wide range of tones and achieving a distinct separation between highlights and shadows.

Ilford Delta 3200: has a unique quality where its contrast can be controlled to a certain extent during the development and printing processes. This flexibility can be advantageous for tailoring the contrast to match your creative intentions.

Overall, Ilford Delta films are respected for their ability to deliver excellent results in terms of sharpness, tonal range, and grain control. They are a popular choice among photographers who prioritize the aesthetics and qualities unique to black-and-white photography.

Ilford FP4 Plus 125

Ilford FP4 Plus is a classic black and white film known for its fine grain, high acutance, and versatility.

FP4 Plus is often described as having a moderate contrast profile. This means that it strikes a balance between capturing a wide range of tones and achieving a noticeable differentiation between highlights and shadows. The moderate contrast gives images a classic and well-defined appearance.

The film’s moderate contrast allows for smooth and subtle tonal gradations, which is ideal for subjects with intricate textures and details. It can capture a wide range of tones without overly emphasizing highlights or shadows.

FP4 Plus’s characteristic contrast contributes to a natural and timeless aesthetic. It’s often chosen when photographers want to capture scenes with a classic, traditional feel.

Ilford Panf Plus 50

Ilford Panf Plus is a low-speed black-and-white film known for its extremely fine grain and smooth tonal transitions.

This film is renowned for its low-contrast characteristics. This means that it produces images with a gentle transition between highlights and shadows, resulting in a more subdued and nuanced appearance. The film’s low contrast profile allows for smooth and subtle tonal gradations. This is particularly advantageous for subjects with delicate textures and details, as it helps maintain detail in both bright and dark areas.

Panf Plus’s low contrast and fine grain make it a favourable choice for portraiture. It can capture skin tones and facial features with a soft and natural appearance. The film’s low contrast contributes to a classic and timeless aesthetic that can evoke a sense of nostalgia in images.
